What Is a Concrete Cobra Placer?
A concrete cobra placer is a compact, self-propelled machine that carries the concrete delivery line on its own articulated arm and places the concrete exactly where the crew needs it. It sits between two extremes: a placing boom, which is powerful but needs space, set-up time and a crane lift, and manual placement with hoses and wheelbarrows, which needs neither but is slow and hard on the crew.
The cobra placer occupies the middle ground. It drives itself onto the slab, works inside a formwork bay and moves between floors on a standard construction hoist — no assembly, no outriggers, no crane.
Key Benefits of Concrete Cobra Placers
- Works where a boom cannot be justified. Floor-by-floor residential work, industrial slabs, car park decks and repair pours rarely carry the cost of a placing boom.
- Full manoeuvrability in tight spaces. All four wheels steer through 360° with front, crab and mirror modes, so the machine turns within its own footprint.
- Vertical and horizontal placement. The delivery pipe can be raised to the vertical, so shear walls and columns are poured as well as slabs.
- No downtime from punctures. Silicone-filled wheels handle rebar offcuts, nails and general site debris.
- Easy relocation. At 850–1,050 kg the machine is moved in one piece, without disassembly.
- A choice of drive. Petrol for sites with no power supply, battery-electric for enclosed, indoor and low-emission work.
Royalmac Concrete Cobra Placer Models
CC4
The petrol-driven model. A 13 hp Briggs & Stratton engine makes it fully independent of site power, which is what most open-air construction sites need. Reach is 2,370 mm horizontal and 3,150 mm vertical, with 360° endless arm rotation and 850 kg total weight. See the CC4 product page for the full specification.
CC4 E+
The battery-powered model — the first and only machine of its type in this class. A 24 VDC 4.5 kW motor runs from a 240 Ah battery pack, and the machine switches to mains electric operation when the battery runs down, so the pour never stops. Zero exhaust emissions and low noise make it the option for basements, tunnels, car parks and refurbishment inside occupied buildings. Total weight 1,050 kg. See the CC4 E+ product page.
Application Areas
- Slab, shear wall and column pours in residential and commercial buildings
- Industrial floor slabs and warehouse construction
- Car park decks and intermediate floors
- Repair and refurbishment pours inside occupied buildings (CC4 E+)
- Basements, tunnels and enclosed spaces where emissions are restricted (CC4 E+)
- Any floor already closed in by formwork, where a placing boom has no line of approach
